Reflections of Vivaldi

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi burst onto the musical scene of the first half of the 18th century, bringing with him a strong wind of stylistic and formal innovation.

With him, the emancipation of the individual figure opposed to the "tutti" led to the maturation of the Bolognese germ of the concept of the solo instrument concerto, generating a new clear and well-defined structure, albeit derived from the already existing style of the Concerto Grosso.

His innovative use of rhythm, melody, and harmony swiftly earned him recognition as one of the most admired and imitated composers of his time. Thanks to the successful publication of his works by Estienne Roger, his distinctive style, characterized by its rich effects and refined sonorities, rapidly spread throughout Europe, influencing the musical ideas of all his contemporaries.

In this program full of surprises, one can find numerous practical examples of this shared "Vivaldian style", manipulated and personalized by all the composers of the first thirty years of the 18th century, establishing connections between the numerous imitators, detractors, and epigones.
